2010-09-03 - Following their success at the Intersolar fair in June, in Munich, ABB solar inverters are once again on show at the 25th European photovoltaic solar energy conference and exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Valencia, Spain.
The first ever ABB solar inverter for photovoltaic power plants was launched exactly one year ago at the 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition in Hamburg, September 2009. ABB central inverters, PVS800, are targeted to meet the needs of system integrators and end customers who require premium performance solar inverters for photovoltaic power plants and industrial and commercial buildings. The inverters are available from 100 to 500 kW, and they are optimized for multi-megawatt solar power plants.
“After a successful year, the ABB central inverter product family has gained well-earned attention from the markets thanks to its high class industrial design, resulting in one of the most compact solar inverters on the market”, says Jyrki Leppänen, Director for solar inverter market management at ABB Oy, Helsinki. “We have also put a lot of effort into product development and the result is even higher efficiency. The high maximum efficiency of the inverters, together with the extremely low auxiliary power consumption will guarantee a high return on investment for the end customer”, says Leppänen.
To strengthen the position on the photovoltaic market, ABB has expanded its solar inverter offering recently to include solar inverters for residential buildings as well as the complete turnkey solution for large-scale power plants – the ABB megawatt station.
ABB string inverters, PVS300, are targeted for residential buildings and small and medium-sized commercial and industrial buildings. The power range of the new transformerless single-phase inverter series is from 3.3 to 8 kW.
The ABB megawatt station, PVS800-MWS, is a container housing all the electrical equipment that is needed to rapidly connect a photovoltaic power plant to a medium voltage electricity grid. The station is a turnkey solution, complementing the recently launched ABB central inverter offering. The container houses 2 x 500 kW ABB central inverters, an optimized transformer, medium voltage switchgear and solar generator terminal boxes.
The 25th EU PVSEC Exhibition will take place from 6th to 9th September 2010 at the Feria Valencia in Spain. This four-day trade show for the global photovoltaics industry will attract around 900 companies and solar organizations, as well as around 40,000 visitors from around the world. The exhibition, running in parallel with the conference, provides a showcase for the technology and service providers involved in the PV Solar field.
